Residential New Construction Program

The Massachusetts Residential New Construction Program provides incentives for energy-efficient new construction. The program will be using a new user defined reference home and will be transitioning from a tiered program to a blended incentive approach on July 1, 2017. This approach "blends" the pay-for-savings model with the percentage model, which allows for a strong correlation between incentives and savings, and accommodates smaller homes. There will be a calculator set up to work automatically with information from REMRate. Incentives are available for all types of residential construction projects including single family homes as well as low rise and high rise multi-family buildings. Learn more online.

"Stretch" Building Code

The Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) passed an optional "stretch" energy code on May 12, 2009 that individual towns may adopt as the standard in their town. The residential portion of the code requires new homes to meet a HERS index of 65-70, depending on square footage. Learn more online.
