FirstEnergy Energy Efficient New Homes Program

Pennsylvania subsidiaries of FirstEnergy (Penelec and Met-Ed) offer rebates for builders of new energy efficient homes. Each newly built home is eligible for a rebate of $400, plus $0.10/kWh saved annually over the reference home, as calculated by REM/Rate. All construction and installation requirements must be met. Qualifying homes will be Energy Star Certified, be 15% more efficient than current code, and be located within the service areas of one of the FirstEnergy Utilities, Penelec and Met-Ed. Energy Loans

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, under the sponsorship of the Pennsylvania Treasury Department, is offering the Keystone Energy Loan program, which is being administered through AFC First Financial Corporation. Several sustainable energy funds (SEFs), energy organizations and utilities are sponsors or partners. AFC First is an independent financial institution based in Allentown. Homeowners can apply for 7.99% unsecured loans up to $10,000 for ENERGY STAR and other energy efficiency improvements.
