DEI Statement

At NEHERS, we approach Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (D.E.I.) from the common-sense perspective that it is in everyone’s interest to broaden the base of support for the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Industry and to work towards increasing the range of representation within the workforce so as to extend our reach into communities that are not currently served well by opportunities to access energy efficiency services.

Our mentorship program endeavors to engage with job-ready candidates, regardless of background or prior work experience, to identify and resolve potential barriers to access and to elicit and encourage the full expression each candidate’s unique talents and gifts; we do this by offering a comprehensive needs assessment upon enrollment and tailored wrap-around support services to help ensure that individuals from many different backgrounds have the resources and guidance needed to succeed and thrive in their chosen career path.

We recognize that fostering a diverse workforce is not just about providing equitable training but also creating a supportive team-oriented learning environment which extends into job placement, so that employers have practical guidance and support to strengthen their capacity to retain a diverse and skilled workforce. We aim to ensure that all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute effectively and meaningfully to the dynamic landscape of the HERS industry in the Northeast, and hopefully well beyond!
